How to Present
Unlike most venture forums, the WBI process incorporates a rigorous screening process. Only the best submissions will be accepted, so it is important to follow the guidelines described herein to increase your opportunity to be selected to present at the Investors Choice® Venture Capital Conference.
The Investors Choice® selection process utilizes, on the first pass, a proprietary screening methodology involving the Venture Ready Report® (see example sample submission), developed by Dr. Ron Mitchell of the University of Victoria's International Centre for Venture Expertise and adapted to emerging technology and small business use by the Wayne Brown Institute. The Venture Ready Report® incorporates over 15 years of accumulated research on successful venture-backed businesses. Through the use of both qualitative and quantitative assessment methodologies, the Venture Ready Report® helps to gauge the strength of a business plan and how well it communicates those strengths to Investors.
Next, a panel of investors reviews each submission. After a spirited and lengthy discussion presenting companies are selected. Everyone gets their submission reviewed by investors. You may not get accepted, but the exposure and feedback are invaluable.
Finally, those selected to present are mentored so their presentations can attract investor interest.
First, familiarize yourself with the submission guidelines, then follow the process, and then make your submission.
