The New Venture Profile

This tool has been created to assist you as an entrepreneur, whether you’re already in business, or just beginning to think about becoming involved with a new business. You will fill out a questionnaire that has been designed especially to evaluate your readiness to venture, but may be useful to a wider range of interested parties including partners, venturing team members, financial backers, and service providers. Each should find the information provided in this assessment to be of interest and potentially valuable when dealing with the very specialized requirements of entrepreneurship. It may also illuminate your own “blindspots” in venturing, perhaps saving you valuable time, money, or both. You will receive two sets of results, both are current “snapshots” of your ability and can change over time:

First, is your venturing “TYPE”

This assessment maps 16 venturing types. With your assessment results, you will be able to identify the basic outline of your personal venturing posture, as well as what you need to do to enhance your entrepreneurial expertise and, therefore, improve your chances for success.

Second, is your venturing “ROLE” (that you are likely to play in a business “at present”)

There are eight defined roles in the venturing process; your assessment results will indicate the role in which you are presently most likely to be successful. The real value of the projected venturing role is in assisting you to understand your strengths and in evaluating areas where you might need to involve others with additional expertise, or seek training to increase your chances of success.
