Wayne Brown Institute Staff
The Wayne Brown Institute is a network of many individuals and organizations that are leaders in equity-backed businesses like yours. Their knowledge, experience, contacts, and in some cases, their money is available to companies with promise. The coordination and management of this vast array of resources is coordinated by the Institute's staff and Board of Trustees.
Bradley B. Bertoch

Bradley B. Bertoch

Bradley B. Bertoch serves as President, as well as, a member of the Board of Trustees for the Wayne Brown Institute; a non-profit nationally recognized educational organization dedicated to improving the human condition through entrepreneurship. He is a nationally recognized leader in equity backed business development, capital formation, and technology commercialization and entrepreneurship. Under his direction, the Institute has maintained the oldest and most successful venture accelerator program in the country while establishing close relationships with numerous venture capital firms. He developed: the Utah Venture Capital Conference, the Arizona Venture Capital Conference, the Los Angeles Technology Venture Forum, the Texas Venture Capital Conference, the Illinois Venture Capital Conference, and Investors Choice Equity Capital Conferences, Cooperative Venturing Educational Process, the Cooperative Venturing Network, and has promoted the development and deployment of the Cooperative Venturing Analyst Report -- all models in technology commercialization. The results of these programs have been that over the last eighteen years, 60% of the 100's of companies participating in Institute programs have raised capital. In total, companies participating in an Institute venture conference have raised over $1 billion in private equity capital.

Brad has spent the last 19 years in economic development focusing on home-grown, high-technology business development. In addition, his experience includes research park and incubator development; strategic planning consulting for SRI International and the BluePrint Team; and assistance in the validation of the New Venture Template? a set of analytical tools designed to improve new venture formation. He was the founding chairman of the National Business Incubator Assn. (NBIA) and co-founder and current Board member of the MountainWest Venture Group. He is an honors graduate from the University of Utah, and received an MBA from Northwestern University. He is currently a Fellow of the Foundation for Enterprise Development.

Gary Jackson

Gary Jackson is the Director of Special Projects for the Institute. He is a recent honors graduate of the University of Utah, where he studied music, business, and Spanish. A technology enthusiast with an entrepreneurial background, Mr. Jackson enjoys working in high technology business development.

Robyn Jensen is the Office Manager for the Wayne Brown Institute. Prior to WBI, she was with Professional Recruiters and McKittrick Law Firm. She is originally from Montana where she attended Montana State University and served in the Montana Air National Guard.

 

Dale S. Richards

Dale S. Richards

Dale S. Richards specializes in Management & Marketing Consulting, Technical Transfer Consulting and Business Financing. He has spent twelve years consulting with over sixty established, start-up businesses and universities on corporate structure, finance, organization, employee productivity, technology and product commercialization strategies, process and resource productivity, contracts, marketing and financing. Particular financing work has been with institutional, Small Business Administration (SBA), Venture Capital and private investors. Mr. Richards has, over the past 25 years, had executive management experience as CEO, President and Board of Director in marketing, engineering and administration areas. His management experience includes sales, marketing, engineering, finance, customer relations, power plant operations, quality assurance, business creation and product development. He had six years as a director in business development for a local utility in which he screened, designed, developed, implemented and managed new businesses, products, and services. Mr. Richards has helped universities commercialize technology for over ten years improving license or start up company's value, time to market and probability of success. Mr. Richards has served as Chairman of the Board & President of MountainWest Venture Group, Past Chairman of the Utah Manufacturers Technology Committee, a member of the Pioneer Partnership, and a member of the Utah Partnership for Education. Mr. Richards is a consultant to the Wayne Brown Institute Venture Capital Conferences held in Utah, Hawaii, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Austin, Chicago, and New York. Mr. Richards has been a Utah representative for several Venture Capital Groups. Mr. Richards is a founder of several technology companies. Mr. Richards has a B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering and a Masters Degree in Business Administration.
