Be 1 in 100
Warning! If you’re trying to raise other people’s money (OPM) to start or grow your business, you need to know how you are perceived by investors. An investor will size you up in the first meeting, and decide whether or not to continue discussions. After seeing thousands of deals, an investor may invest in 1 in 100. You need to be that 1 in 100. If you know how an investor perceives your venture competence, you can take steps to mitigate the negative and exploit the positive. Investors look for reason NOT to do your deal, don’t add risk by creating the wrong impression.
